To Exfoliate or not to Exfoliate - That is the Question

To Exfoliate or not to Exfoliate - That is the Question

Much of the information provided in this post was gleaned from The American Academy of Dermatology, and we thank them for their contribution.

One of the key contributors was Dr Mary P. Lupo, MD, FAAD, clinical professor of dermatology, Tulane

University School of Medicine, New Orleans.

    Overview

Exfoliation is the process of removing the topmost layer of dead skin cells. This can be done at home with many of our wonderful scrubs, or using brushes, or simple using your hands to rub the particles on the skin, and washing them off. After exfoliation is complete, you can also us a soft brush or exfoliating mitt to aid exfoliation.

Exfoliation can do much to improve your skin’s appearance and make you skin care regime more effective and allows your other treatments to penetrate deeper once the dead skin has been removed. Your skin will appear brighter after the dead cells have been removed. Every type of exfoliation may not work for every type of skin, and could, in fact, make it worse. If you have acne for instance, (inflammatory type), which includes cysts and pustules, you should consult a Dermatologist before starting an exfoliation regime. Long term benefits can include increased collagen production, resulting in younger looking skin. This is even more true when adding wonderful microbeads imparting jojoba oil, or stem cells to your scrub. With non-inflammatory acne which is whiteheads and blackheads, it is very beneficial to exfoliate, as it prevents premature aging. For those who may suffer from rosacea, it could increase redness, so proceed with caution. It is best to consult your dermatologist before exfoliating if you have any questions.

    Best Exfoliation Options

Here at Private Label Skin Care Florida believe that we have developed the very best exfoliation options for nearly every type of skin. We have found bamboo in various sizes( smaller size for face and larger particle size for the body) along with nut shell powders, seeds, coffee, sugar and salt to help create the perfect scrub.

Several bases to choose from including cream base, hydrating cleanser, and or oils, which are highly beneficial and make an exceptional scrub for face or body. The addition of plant-based stem cells have proven very beneficial for feeding the skin after exfoliation.   These ingredients each provide a specific function so have made our formulations unique in the market, and can be added to your formula.

    Microbead Encapsulates

Another innovation, is the addition of microbead encapsulates, made from oils, butters, charcoal, and pearl, which break open when rubbed, and have proven very beneficial by helping keep the skin hydrated, and soft. These microbeads also are very beautiful when added to our scrubs (thereby increasing the perceived value of your product along with protecting the skin).
